
The year 1999 marked the debut of the highly successful LEGO Star Wars theme, which launched in two waves with sets from both the Original Trilogy and Episode I: The Phantom Menace. The sets are now retired and available only through re-sellers.
Original Trilogy Sets (October 1999)
The first wave of LEGO Star Wars sets, released in October 1999, focused on iconic vehicles and scenes from the original films (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi).
X-Wing Fighter (7140): The very first LEGO Star Wars set to be released, featuring R2-D2, Luke Skywalker (Rebel Pilot), Biggs Darklighter, and a Rebel Mechanic minifigure.
Landspeeder (7110): One of the smallest sets, it included Luke Skywalker and Ben Kenobi minifigures.
Snowspeeder (7130): A set from The Empire Strikes Back that featured Luke Skywalker (Rebel Pilot), Dak Ralter, and a Hoth Rebel Soldier minifigure.
Speeder Bikes (7128): Based on the chase scene from Return of the Jedi, it included two Scout Troopers and an Endor Luke Skywalker minifigure.
TIE Advanced & Y-wing (7150): A dual-model set that was the second largest of 1999, featuring a TIE Advanced fighter (Darth Vader's ship) and a Y-wing fighter.
Episode I: The Phantom Menace Sets (November 1999)
A second wave of sets was released in November to coincide with the film's premiere, introducing characters and vehicles from the new prequel film.
Mos Espa Podrace (7171): The largest set released in 1999, it featured a complex build of the Podrace scene and included ten minifigures, such as Anakin Skywalker, Sebulba, and Qui-Gon Jinn.
Gungan Sub (7161): Included Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Jar Jar Binks minifigures and a brick-built submarine.
Anakin's Podracer (7131): A popular set of Anakin's podracer vehicle, including minifigures of Anakin Skywalker (podracer pilot), Padmé Amidala, and a Pit Droid.
Sith Infiltrator (7151): Featured Darth Maul's starship and a minifigure of Darth Maul.
Naboo Fighter (7141): A replica of the N-1 Starfighter, including minifigures of Young Anakin Skywalker, two Battle Droids, and R2-D2.
Lightsaber Duel (7101): A smaller set depicting the duel on Tatooine between Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul.
Naboo Swamp (7121): Included Qui-Gon Jinn, Jar Jar Binks, and two Battle Droids.
Droid Fighter (7111): The only set in the wave without minifigures, a buildable Vulture Droid that could convert to walking mode.
